We have achieved the creation of a vibrant, energetic and breakthrough group of scholars tackling some of the most important issues of the day. The Digital Media area’s Doctoral Programs at the University of Porto and at Nova are undertaking a broad span of research investigating how aspects of design, user interface, narrative, and information visualization can benefit activities in health, education, recreation and tourism, and journalism, among other fields. We have hosted hundreds of Portuguese faculty and graduate students in Austin, collaborated with them on research projects, and in courses and doctoral projects. We look forward to the third phase of working with our colleagues in Portugal, a phase without funding from FCT but with terrific energy, commitment, and ideas.
