Tina Lassiter

Graduate Researcher

Tina Lassiter is a doctoral student at the School of Information, a graduate research assistant in Good Systems, and a fellow of the Ethical A.I. National Science Foundation Research Trainee program at the University of Texas at Austin. Her dissertation research focuses on AI and Ethics, in particular trust in AI, AI auditing and AI policy. As a former German IT, IP and media lawyer and a freelance journalist, she has a strong interest in policy related to AI and media. In 2024, she became a fellow at the Center for AI and Digital Policy (CAIDP), a non-profit research organization dedicated to assessing national AI policies and practices worldwide. Previously, she has been awarded a grant by the Notre Dame-IBM Tech Ethics lab to conduct research related to AI Audits. This research has resulted in a paper which will be part of the 2024 CSCW publications.

At TIPI Tina will work together with Silvia DalBen Furtado and expand prior research on generative AI used in journalism which has been presented at the 2024 Association of Educators in Mass Communication (AEJMC) conference.
