Flooding is a constant reality for people living in Texas.

In an effort to better communicate flood risk to Texans, TIPI’s Keri Stephens, Matt McGlone, and Tara Tasuji are working with the Institute for a Disaster Resilient Texas (IDRT) to evaluate different maps used to communicate flood risk.

We will examine different ways to communicate the level of property risk, and how people perceive the usability of different flood maps.  Our interdisciplinary team has scientists with expertise in urban studies, machine learning, geostatistics, flood mapping, storyboarding, policy, anthropology, persuasion, and organizational communication and technology.
