A team of researchers under the supervision of professors Joseph Straubhaar and Sharon Strover conducted the Austin Digital Assessment Survey for the City of Austin to assess internet usage in Austin. The team sent 11,000 surveys to random Austin addresses and received a 9% response rate. With this sampling, the survey gathered essential information about local access to digital and mobile technology, internet use practices, and attitudes regarding digital technology and development. It also collected important demographic information and the relationship between computer and internet access, household income and education level as they relate to the Homework Gap.

The Digital Assessment Project research team includes Joe Straubhaar, Sharon Strover, Jaewon Choi, Soyoung Park, Maria Skouras, Melissa Santillana, Caifan Du, and Adolfo Mora.
